Cookie day 2012

cookie decorating crew.

Cookie Day 2012 was great fun! Family from Southern and Northern California and Kerrie from the Chicago area. The sisters from California brought their families so the kids could once again join in the fun of decorating cookies, pressing cookies and enjoying their cousins company. Kerrie’s son could not make it up this year from Monterey,CA., as he had military obligations and we have a newbie, Richie, who has not attended this festive event.

The first cookie of the day was Colorful Spiral Cookies.

Another cookie we tried we have dubbed “Butterscotch Bacon Cookies”. The recipe . I decided butterscotch chips would taste better than chocolate chips with the bacon, so that’s what I did. They turned out pretty good ; salty and sweet.

Decorating crew did a great job

  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 3 cups flour

Cooking Directions

  1. Mix first four ingredients
  2. Add baking powder and flour
  3. Roll our dough to 1/4-1/2 inch thick and cut out shapes. Place on cookie sheets and bake at 400 degrees for 6-7 minutes.
  4. Cool cookies on rack. When cool frost with butter cream frosting. The recipe from the C&H powdered sugar box works well.

Note: Do not chill the dough.

Lots of fun and plenty of  COOKIES.   Wound down the night with pizza.
